As health data and evidence generation continue to expand rapidly across Africa, a significant challenge remains in translating data/evidence into real-world policy and practice. This persistent gap between evidence generation and evidence use has implications for healthcare equity, quality, access, and patient outcomes.

To help address this challenge, the Strathmore PRISM Centre is proud to announce that Dr. Jeremiah Nganda (IDeAL Post-Doctoral Fellow and SILC Hub Lead) has been selected as one of 13 emerging African scholars in the inaugural DELTAS Africa Career Advancement Fellowship cohort.

The Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training, and Science in Africa (DELTAS Africa) initiative, spearheaded by the Science for Africa Foundation, seeks to nurture world-class scientific leaders capable of driving locally relevant, high-quality, and impactful health research that responds to Africa’s priorities.

During the fellowship, Dr. Nganda will focus on knowledge translation. Particularly, he will explore ways of strengthening the use of evidence in health workforce planning and deployment, with the broader aim of contributing to more equitable and efficient health systems in Kenya and across Africa.

Dr Nganda will undertake this work under the mentorship of Prof. Francis Wafula (Director, Strathmore PRISM Centre) and Prof. Sam Kinyanjui (Director, Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders (IDeAL)).

Over the course of the fellowship, Dr. Nganda will collaborate with fellow scholars within DELTAS Africa to exchange knowledge, strengthen leadership skills, foster interdisciplinary partnerships, and contribute to a growing community of researchers committed to advancing science for impact in Africa.
